Research Activities
Institute of Modern History conducts research focusing on the post-World War II era, especially the Cold War and international relations history. Our goal is to shed new light on the complex political, social and cultural trends that have shaped the modern world. Through in-depth analysis of relationships between great powers, global conflicts, and changes in diplomatic practices, we seek to provide new understanding of the fundamental factors affecting today's international situation.
Our institute is at the forefront of introducing innovative approaches to the study of history. We attempt a more comprehensive and in-depth interpretation of modern history through interdisciplinary collaboration with historians, political scientists, and experts in related fields. This collaboration questions existing historical narratives, embraces diverse perspectives, and promotes critical historical research. In particular, we focus on exploring lesser-known aspects of the Cold War and shedding new light on the role of non-state actors in world history.
